A Ocean
Recovery Alliance e a organização do 4º Swim Challenge Cascais vão celebrar o
Dia Mundial dos Oceanos, com a Ocean Parade, umas caminhada contra a poluição
dos mares, para a qual todas as pessoas estão convidadas, na manhã do dia 7 de
junho.
A
partida será dada às 8h15 na Praia do Tamariz, no Estoril, e o percurso, pelo
paredão marítimo, terminará na Praia da Duquesa, em Cascais, com um grande
mergulho coletivo nas águas límpidas da mais bela baía do mundo e uma enorme
salva de palmas.
Em
ambiente de festa e de sensibilização para a necessidade de preservação do
nosso Oceano, personalidades de vários quadrantes marcarão presença, como Doug
Woodring, o fundador da Ocean Recovery Alliance, a artista plástica
ambientalista, a alemã radicada em Hong Kong, Liina Klaus, o ex-nadador
olímpico Miguel Arrobas, que já atravessou o Canal da Mancha a nado, e o
mergulhador Miguel Lacerda.
No
encerramento da iniciativa pelas 8h40, algumas personalidades envolvidas em
causas ambientais irão fazer pequenas intervenções. O 4º Swim Challenge Cascais
terá início às 9h30 com as provas para a miudagem, seguidas da Milha Oficial às
10h30 e a Milha Open às 11h30.,
O Swim
Challenge Cascais - Swim For The Ocean faz parte de uma série de eventos que
vão decorrer em Cascais e Lisboa entre o dia 1 e 8 de junho, no âmbito da Blue
Week [Semana Azul]. Esta iniciativa trará a Portugal economistas, políticos,
biólogos, artistas, atletas, e outros apaixonados pelo mar, todos eles
preocupados com a crescente poluição do oceano e as suas trágicas consequências
a todos os níveis.
Para
além do Swim Challenge Cascais - Swim For The Ocean, a Semana Azul inclui ainda
o Plasticity Forum, o Economist’s World Ocean Summit, o Festival de Cinema
Ocean In Motion, a Volvo Ocean Race, para além de uma exposição artística
na Cidadela de Cascais.
The OCEAN PARADE Comes to Cascais in Honour
of World Ocean Day - June 7
An unforgettable morning of true celebration for the Ocean with a walk along the coast on the morning of June 7th. At 8:15 am, before the Swim For The Ocean - Swim Challenge Cascais, the Ocean Parade will start in honor of World Ocean Day, from Tamariz Beach in Estoril. The Ocean Parade will end at the Praia da Duquesa, with the countdown to a big collective dive into the clear waters of the most beautiful bay in the world.

In festive atmosphere, and to raise awareness of the need for preservation of our Ocean, personalities from various quarters will be present, as Doug Woodring the founder of Ocean Recovery Alliance, artist Liina Klauss who joins us from Hong Kong, Miguel Arrobas, English Channel swimmer and the diver Miguel Lacerda.
At the close of this initiative by 8:40 am, there will
be small interventions of personalities involved with environmental causes. The event is part of a number of
events in Cascais and Lisbon that are bringing experts, athletes, artists,
tourists and other ocean lovers to the community on behalf of appreciating what
the ocean has to offer, and inspiring us all to give something back to keep it
healthy.
These
events include Portugal’s Blue Week, the Plasticity Forum, The Economist’s
World Ocean Summit, the Ocean In Motion Film Festival, the Swim Challenge
Cascais, the Volvo Ocean Race, “Circle”, an art installation in Cidadela
de Cascais, a historic fortress which faces the Atlantic Ocean.
The Swim For The Ocean - Swim Challenge Cascais is
integrated into the Blue Week and will start at 9:30 am with the Kid’s
competitions, following the official Cascais Mile by 10:30.
